Personal Notes:

Ahh, yes, well, this is one of my favorite movies of the Pokemon series.

I remember when my friend first showed it to me. I loved it! Almost everyday we'd watch it. I soon bought a copy later on. He was quite glad that I wasn't always bugging him to watch it. x3

It was my second Pokemon movie that I'd seen(Mewtwo Returns being my first.). Even though I don't really watch it much anymore, it's still my absolute favorite out of the whole series.

Summary

The movie starts out with this weird man stating that he is searching for the legendary titans of ice, fire, and lightening. When he has them captured, he'll be able to awaken the legendary beast of the sea, Lugia, according to acient writing. The man starts the search off with the nearest titan. The titan of fire was the nearest. So he went off to Fire Island.

When the man reached his destination, ice bombs fired from the flying machine hit the island, causing it to freeze over. The titan of fire, Moltres, flies out from inside the cave and attempts to fight off the bombs with its Flamethrower. After awhile, Moltres gets exhausted. Two circles form a weird barrier and Moltres is now captured. Now the man has 2 more to go to awaken the legendary beast of the sea, Lugia.

Somewhere off in a different location, Ash, Misty, and Tracey are in a boat heading to the next Orange Island. It was quite a lovely day, so they all let their Pokemon out to enjoy it. Not too far off, Team Rocket is in a Magikarp submarine following the boat. After a short period of time, the sky begins to darken and schools of Magikarp appear from the water, leading Team Rocket off course. They eventually gain control of it again, but end up crashing into a huge stone rock, the submarine exploding. The gang recall their Pokemon quickly. After the storm died down a bit, they pull ashore to an unknown island.

Meanwhile in Pallet Town, Professor Oak stops to greet Ash's mother, Delilea, while riding by on his bike. He comments on how nice the weather is. After he said that, it began to rain. Mimey, Delilea's Mr. Mime, quickly runs inside to get an umbrella for Delilea and itself. The rain stops and a bunch of Diglett and Pidgey pass by the three hurringly. Snow shortly begins to fall. The Professor and Delilea are both very confused as it is summer; way too warm for snow. The Professor knows that something is wrong and that the Pokemon can sense it as well.

The group slowly makes their way out of the boat. As they turn around, they face people with weird masks, spears, and sticks in front of them. The girl driving the boat calls out to a girl named Cathy. A girl removes her mask and greets them. After a short chat, Cathy asks who the boy next to his friend was. The girl that drove the boat replies that he's Ash Ketchum. Cathy points to a girl nearby, whom is her sister, Melody. Melody thinks the tradition is stupid, so that's why she's not in costume. Ash mentions that he's a Pokemon trainer, and everone starts to celebrate. Melody walks down to where Ash is and gives him a kiss on the cheek. Misty then becomes enraged after she'd done that. Melody asks Misty of she's Ash's sister. Misty replies with a no. Melody then assumes that she's Ash's girlfriend. Misty again replies with a no. The group then are led into the city.

Ash, Misty, and Tracey sit around a table where, in the center, there's a huge variety of fruits for them. Shortly, Melody appears on stage playing a lovely song on her ocarina. When she was done, she runs up to Ash and explains a task he is to do. He must firstly collect the treasures from Fire Island, Lightening Island, and Ice Island. After collected, he must then head towards a special place where he is to tame the three legendary birds of the islands. Melody tells him it's quite a complicated task and that he'll start tomorrow. Ash insisted on doing it right away, though. The girl who drove the boat tells Ash that she's ready. For some odd reason, Pikachu takes Ash's hat and heads towards the boat. Ash obviously follows. The boat driver comes up and asks if Ash is ready to go. Ash replies with a yes. They then head off. Team Rocket are nearby trying to pedal with all the strength they had with what was left of their submarine. The boat Ash was on zooms quickly by them, so they were thrown back into the water. Shortly, rain begins to fall as the sky grows dark.

Melody watches as the storm picks up. She then worries that maybe she sent Ash off at a bad time. Melody decides to take her boat and head after them, Misty and Tracey following quickly behind. Melody notes that Misty is following and asks why she wants to save her boyfriend. Misty replies angrily that he's not her boyfriend; just a boy that's a friend. Tracey catches up and asks if they're refering to him. They soon arrive at the boat. Team Rocket sneaks into the back and hide under the covers, still awaiting their chance to catch Pikachu.

Back at the ship, the man stares at his prized Moltres. The computer informs him that Zapdos is near and is heading towards Fire Island.
On a news report, they describe that, somehow, a powerful current located in the Orange Islands has caused the strange weather patterns. Pokemon from everywhere are on the move. When Ash's mother hears about the happenings, she gets quite worried. Professor Oak recieves a call from Professor Ivy. While Brock is running around in the backround, Ivy tells that the Pokemon around there are acting strange.

Later on, the weather had gotten a bit nicer, but the waves at sea are still quite rough. The boat is pretty much thrown ashore on the island. Pikachu quickly leaps out and leads Ash up a set of stairs, leaving the boat driver behind.
Melody, in her boat with the other group, explains that she had been around boats all her life and that they shouldn't be scared. Misty explains that she grew up in a water Pokemon gym, so she never got scared of the waves. In a few seconds, a wave caught them, and the boat is throw forward. Everyone hangs on, but Team Rocket flies out.

The boat lands on a rock on the island. The boat driver notices Melody and is a bit surprised to see her there. Melody asks where Ash is. The boat driver explains to her what had happened. They all felt that they should head after him right away. A strong wind picks up, almost knocking the boat over. Melody pulls a lever to bring up a sail. The wind started to blow them up the stairs.
Meanwhile, Ash finally made it to the top and sees a shrine in front of him. Inside, there is a red orb that contains fire. Ash attempts to pull it out. After a little struggling, it came out. Team Rocket then suddenly appears, starting their motto. Ash interrupts them and says that he's in the middle of doing an important task. They didn't really care. They just wanted Pikachu. Melody's boat suddenly flies up and Team Rocket is nearly crushes.

Zapdos flies down to the island. As lightening begins to appear, everyone takes cover. Pikachu gets up on the boat and fires a small lightening bolt at Zapdos. Everyone was a bit confused, so Meowth explains that Pikachu is trying to communicate with Zapdos. He's asking what Zapdos is doing on Fire Island. Zapdos answers back saying that he would take over the island because Moltres isn't there anymore. Zapdos then lets out a powerful amount of electricity everywhere. After a few moments though, it becomes absorbed into the sky. The flying ship the strange man is flying in comes into view, absorbing Zapdos's power. When its energy was almost drained, it began to attack the strange ship. Square rings are fired and almost immediatly formed a barrier around Zapdos. Another set of rings accidentally gets the boat and everyone else as well.

The man now only needs Articuno. The computer informs him that Zapdos was captured as well as something else. He heads over to where Moltres and Zapdos are and sees the gang and Team Rocket. The man approaches them, and after Ash notices the legendary birds, he demands that they be set free. The man introduces himself saying he is a collector or rare things. A small agruement begins to stir, and shortly after, he released the gang and Team Rocket from the cage. The man then just walks off.

Professor Oak, Professor Ivy, Ash's mother, and a news crew are in a helicopter heading towards the Orange Islands. Being interviewed, Oak creates a chart explaining that the legendary birds help to maintain the control of weather. If the flow is disrupted(by being captured, ect.), odd things begin to happen. It also effects the Pokemon's behavior. It was currently snowing; Articuno was not yet captured. The news reporter, after noticing Mrs. Ketchum, asks who she is. Mrs. Ketchum tells who she is and explains that her son had gone to the Orange Islands and that she might never see him again.

Back at the ship, Melody discovered an ancient tablet of some sort. Everyone listened as she read it out loud. It said something relative to not disturbing the titans of Fire, Lightening, and Ice, or the great beast of the sea will awaken. The legend was coming true.
Ash was a bit worried of what might happen if Moltres and Zapdos weren't freed. To start off, Pikachu started shocking Moltres's cage. Ash let out Charizard, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle to help out. Team Rocket used Weezing and Arbok to try and break Zapdos's cage, though they failed. Moltres's cage was destroyed in a short time. Moltres uses a powerful Flamethrower, and soon Zapdos is freed. The birds then began to fly around trying to destroy the ship. After a short time, the ship had no choice but to land.

The gang and Team Rocket started to run out of the ship in fear. When the ship finally crashed, everyone dove for cover. An orb rolls in front of Ash. Ash grabs the orb and looks at it. Inside it contained lightening. Everyone looks up and sees the three legendary birds destroying the Earth slowly, but surely. To avoid getting hurt, the gang jump into a boat. A large wave hits them, and they fall down a huge waterfall. And, strangely, a small tornado of water rises and the group is saved from drowning. Melody hears a familiar sound coming from the water, although she can't remember what it was.
Jesse and James found an small safety boat and a propellor. Before they had gotten into it, a blast of water shoots up, causing everyone to shoot off in different directions. Team Rocket got sent off to the mountains; the gang land on an island where a Slowking stood there, waiting. The Slowking looks at Ash, and points to where he should put the treasures, which was some kind of shrine-box. Ash asks how he can talk, but Pikachu started running to the shrine-box, and Ash obviously followed, so the question was never answered. Ash ran up the steps towards it, and placed the orbs in the correct spots. Slowking comments that he's one short. Suddenly, the three legendary birds started fightening near the island. Ash runs near to where it is happening, and yells at them to stop. The three birds fired their attacks, but the tornado of water rises up again, and their attacks failed. The tornado stops, and Lugia becomes visible. He begins to sound off the noise Melody had heard not that long ago. She then realizes that her ocarina makes the same noise as Lugia. Lugia then begins to fight with the legendary birds. The strange man fires rings at Lugia, though they miss him completely. The legendary birds were too much for Lugia, and soon he was shot down into the water.

In the helicopter, Professor Oak, Professor Ivy, and Mrs. Ketchum all look outside the windows and see over a million Pokemon outside. Professor Ivy says that Ash is not the only one in danger. The whole world is. She says that the Pokemon are here because they feel they have a need to do something, 'though they are unsure of what.

Lugia is the world's only hope. Slowking reads what the stone tablet says out loud. When everything has happened, the world will soon turn to ash. Ash was the chosen one. Ash was a bit shocked after he heard it. Slowking says that Ash must collect the last treasure to stop the world from being destroyed. Melody plays her ocarina, and Lugia rises from the sea, fully restored. Lugia starts speaking, telling Ash that he must collect the last treasure since he is the chosen one. Lugia said he'd help out on the journey. Pikachu, and Ash's other Pokemon also wanted to help out too. After a short cry of mixed emotions, Ash begins the last part of his journey.

Ash begins his journey by stumbling a bit in the snow. Ash sees Melody's boat nearby, and with a little help, he was able to use some of the pieces as a sled. Charizard, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle lead the way.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket have a strange feeling that maybe they should be good guys for once. A helicopter crashes nearby, and they dedcide to use a propellor to help them.

The legendary birds start to fire their attacks at Ash. Luckily, Lugia was following Ash from behind. Lugia flies in the way of the attacks using a barrier, so they can't harm Ash. Even so, Zapdos was able to fire a lightening bolt in front of Ash, and everyone went out of control. Ash recalls his Pokemon as they have no strength left. Ash almost loses hope until he sees Team Rocket heading towards him in the propelled safety boat. They do their whole motto and ask Ash to jump in the boat with them. Ash was a bit confused on why they were helping him. While they head off, they explain that when the world ends, so does evil, so therefor, if they somehow survived the whole mess, there would be no one to steal from.

The legendary birds begin to attack the boat, and Team Rocket dodges them. They head into a cave and finally reach the top of the mountain. They stop, and Ash runs over to a shrine where the final treasure is and takes it. Overhead, Moltres and Zapdos attack Articuno. Articuno soon gets knocked to the ground, destroying the area and boat. Everyone starts to run off. Lugia flies by Ash, and Ash jumps on Lugia's neck. Before Lugia starts to fly away, Team Rocket grab on to Lugia's leg. After a while, Team Rocket start to think that maybe they are slowing Lugia down. They decide that to help save the world, they must let go of Lugia's leg. After a count of three, they let go. Ash shouts at them, asking what they were doing, but they had already let go of Lugia's leg then. INstead of falling and dying, they land in icy ocean surrounded by many Pokemon.

Ash sees the island up ahead. Their journey is almost over. Alhough, unfortunately, Lugia gets caught in the rings the man had fired. Lugia uses hyper beam and aims at the man's ship, destroying it entirely. Moltres and Zapdos are nearby, so Lugia fires another hyper beam at them, and they are knocked out. Lugia barely has any energy left after this, so he falls into the water below. Pikachu sees Ash nearby, unconscious. Everyone on the island wants to help. Melody tells Misty to hold the ocarina, but Misty shakes her head and volounteers to rescue Ash. Misty swims off and retrieves Ash. Once Ash is back on the island, Misty and everyone make sure Ash is okay. Ash slowly opens his eyes. He tries to get up, Tracey offering to help him. Ash refuses and says that this is something he must do on his own. He slowly walks towards the shrine, and up the stairs. Ash places the last treasure inside. Green liquid starts flowing out from the pedestal. Melody starts to play Lugia's song on her ocarina. The legendary birds awaken and start to fly up in the sky. Everything begins to clear, and slowly turns back to normal. Lugia rises from the water and flies over to where the group is. Landing, he tells Ash to get on. Ash does so, and Lugia takes off into the air. During the rest of the tune, the legendary birds and Lugia fly in the air together.

When the tune ends, all the Pokemon start to leave. Lugia flies back to where the group is, and lets Ash dismount before leaving and everyong says their goodbyes. Lugia says goodbye to the chosen one, and dives into the water. Ash's Mom runs up to Ash and hugs him. Ash is a bit shocked to see that she, along with professor Oak and Ivy, are there. Mrs. Ketchum was worried about her son, and gives Ash a short lecture. Misty explains that it was Ash's duty to save the world. Mrs. Ketchum said that Ash was the whole world to her and she could've lost him. She tells him to try and save the world a little closer to home. Professor Oak was eager to tell other researches about this. He runs off telling professor Ivy and Mrs. Ketchum to come along.

Later that night, the weird man walks around in the debris of his ship. On the ground, he found what had started his collection; the Ancient Mew card.
Team Rocket crawls up to the island that Slowking is on. They complain that no one saw them being heros. Slowking greets them, and tells them that many people had, and that they are in fact, watching them right now. Team Rocket looks at the screen, getting their hopes up. However, if the boss ever saw this, that'd be bad. Then they start goingover a few other things, saying it's either good or bad. Then it starts to zoom out and the ending credits start.
