My Top 10 AP Counters
Note: This section is for both Pokemon lovers and haters.
Ahhh... finally my favorite page of this whole site, the AP Counters page. Basically it's where I counter some of the things that Anti Pokemon people say about Pokemon. In short, I will counter 10 things Anti Pokemon people say, from both Anti Pokemon websites, and the things that I even hear at my own school. Here is list for them. I will of course go into detail about them as well:
- Pokemon is just a waste of Money!
- The Games, and the TV show have no plot!
- Pokemon is gay!
- People that like Pokemon are outcasts at school, and have no friends!
- Pokemon is evil!
- Pokemon teaches nothing but violence!
- The show is so stupid, it makes me sick!
- Pokemon lovers have NO life!
- Pokemon should stopped being made and Nintendo should start making some cool games!
- Pokemon is a dead fad!
My Top 10 AP Counters (In detail)
1. Pokemon is just a waste of money!
Why should you even care first of all how people spend their money? People can buy Pokemon products if they want to; it's not like you can stop them. Pokemon Lovers don't always spend all their money on Pokemon things you know. Pokemon isn’t my only interest (though it’s my biggest interest) but if you don’t have the right to tell me or anyone what they should be spending their money on basically. And don’t think I just bum and waste my parent’s money on Pokemon. I work a full time job and choose to spend my own hard earned money on Pokemon.
2. The Games and TV show have no plot!
The TV show is based on the games, and some other events put in the show. As for the games, YOU make the plot. In some cases it is good that Pokemon doesn’t have a set plot to it because it gives the player the freedom of choosing what he or she wants to do instead of following events in a certain order every time you play. That's why the games itself are so popular; it gives you freedom of doing something new every time you start a new game.
3. Pokemon is Gay!
Ahhh... finally we get to this one. This is by far the most overused term used by Pokemon haters. Hold on a sec...*Goes and gets a Dictionary*...
Ok I'm back. Alright now let's look up the word "gay" in my mom's old college dictionary from 1979. (Its old but it will work) Ok the word "Gay" is defined as: 1. a: happily excited b. Keenly alive and exuberant c. being a socially integrated group oriented toward and concerned with the welfare of the homosexual. Right... ok there you go, now you tell me does ANY of those definitions describe or relate in any way to Pokemon? HELL NO! So what DO you mean AP'ers when you say Pokemon is gay? I think you better look up the word "gay" yourself before you use it in context.
4. People that like Pokemon are outcasts at school and have no friends!
Wrong again... I know popular kids at my school who like it yet will not admit it to anyone mainly because they are scared of being made fun of. Many Pokemon lovers have been "outcasts" even before Pokemon even came around! I have been picked on in school ever since the 1st grade! Ummm... let me see that was in 1995, and Pokemon hit the US in 1998. In fact when everyone seemed to like Pokemon (1999-2000, which was when people liked it because it was "in") I didn't get picked on as much because everyone would come to me for help with their Pokemon games. I was more respected and liked then.
5. Pokemon is evil!
No... Pokemon is not evil and for some very simple reasons. Well for one thing THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN EVIL POKEMON! You have to understand here...humans can make Pokemon do bad things, but the HUMANS made the Pokemon evil, they weren’t born "evil" just like how people can manipulate others to make them do bad. Also, in a Pokemon episode as I recall a Houndoom:
(a sometimes called an "evil" Pokemon by it's intimidating looks) saved a little baby Togepi:
. How is THAT evil? The last reason is because Pokemon has been recognized by the Vatican and praised by the good morals it teaches. Even the almighty Pope knows Pokemon isn't evil people.
6. Pokemon teaches nothing but violence!
WRONG! If you mean Pokemon battles being "violence" then you are wrong and here's why. To Pokemon battling is considered play to them, and a way to grow stronger. If a Pokemon doesn't want to battle, then it might not listen to its trainer and refuse to battle. Take Ash's Pokemon Charizard back in the seasons before it listened to him. It refused to fight because Ash had not given it enough love and care. Which brings me to this. Pokemon teaches morals and lessons such friendship with your Pokemon, or anything you care about and trust which is something you need for everyday life.
7. The show is so stupid, it makes me sick!
Hmmm.... well it must not be stupid to all the millions and millions of people who watch it, that make it the most popular show on Kids WB in America. In fact it was rated the number 1 most popular cartoon/anime show in 1999 and 2000. If you don't like the show fine, I really don't care but I have heard of Pokemon haters trying to write a petition to Kids WB to ban Pokemon. Hahahahaha... just to let you know they wont stop showing Pokemon if it is the most popular show on Kids WB unless they want their ratings to fall, and they are not stupid and wouldn't do something like that.
8. Pokemon lovers have NO life!
Not true at all. Take me for example, for one thing I don't obsess about updating this site every day (because I never could with work and school.) I also don't own a lot of Pokemon stuff. I own several Pokemon plushies all the Game Boy/Game Boy Advance/DS Pokemon games, three strategy guides, and around 690 Pokemon cards. I have the right to spend my money on what I love. It's good to treat yourself to the things you like and care about. There's nothing wrong with that. In all honestly, I play more Xbox 360 than Pokemon right now. Pokemon lovers do like and play other games then Pokemon you know. Just I and many others always love Pokemon at heart even when I'm not playing it. Everyone knows that there is more to life than Pokemon!
9. Pokemon should stopped being made and Nintendo should start making some cool games!
Well since Pokemon is one of the most popular things that Nintendo makes, and always scores big with the Pokemon games always hitting the number one top game in Japan, and usually the 2nd or 3rd most popular when the games come out in the US (according to my Game Informer magazine I get). So I guess it must be "cool" after all eh? I think you don't understand...for every one person that hates Pokemon, there are three Pokemon fans that love it.
10. Pokemon is a dead fad
Wrong again... ahhh.. this is another AP counter I couldn't wait to type up. The fact is that Pokemon has "survived" though the test of time and is loved by many still. While all the people who thought it was just "cool" to like Pokemon have ceased to like it, all the true Pokemon lovers remain. Pokemon will never die because there is always going to be someone out there who loves it (I know I will always love Pokemon) How could I not? It's made such a positive impact on my life and many other people's lives. So APer's I end this AP counters section with this: Give up trying to end Pokemon because you haven't been able to now for that past 8 years now! What makes you think that you will end it? Pokemon is here to stay forever! it will be loved 70 years from now, and beyond just like some other things such as Mickey Mouse (1930) There is no limit to where Pokemon can go... and AAP people like myself will always be there to love and support Pokemon!
