I know there are probably many confused parents out there who might not know what Pokemon id or who would like to discover some more information regarding Pokemon. Therefore, the purpose of this artcle is to be a basic introduction to Pokemon, as well as answering the most common questions and misconception. Although primarily aimed for parents, everyone is welcome to read this page.

1. When did Pokemon come about?Originally, Pokemon was devolved in 1991, by a man named Satoshi Tajiri, in Japan. Pokemon was officially released in Japan in 1996, reaching the U.S in 1998.
2. What is Pokemon really all about?
In a nutshell, Pokemon is about people who try becoming what is called a "Pokemon Trainer". In the world of Pokemon, Pokemon take of the place of animals, and greatly resemble some of the animals in the real world. These trainers try to capture these Pokemon using a high-tech device called a Pokeball. A trainer must try a capture every Pokemon that is known to man to become a "Pokemon Master". Sound silly to you? Well, some people in the world of Pokemon become friends with these creatures while others train them to battle with Pokemon. They even help people with there everyday lives in the world of Pokemon; there are many things to do besides just trying to catch all the Pokemon.
3. What are some of the more popular aspects about Pokemon?
Without a doubt the most interesting thing about Pokemon are the games that Nintendo has released. The Pokemon game series has been going strong for the past six years with numerous Pokemon games released between 1998 to 2007. Another popular aspect about Pokemon is the anime TV show which airs a new episode almost every week. Pokemon have their own card game devolved by the Wizards of the Coast, which may be played with or simply used as collectabl items.
4. What are the age groups of the Pokemon fans out there?
Contrary to popular belief, most people who like Pokemon are 12 or older. The games attract Pokemon fans of all ages. Pinkie is currently 15, with Cliochu being 18 (the owners of this site), who proudly love Pokemon. However, it is also important to consider that even many adults like Pokemon too.
5. Is there a bad or evil Pokemon?
No, Pokemon is neither evil or bad. A Pokemon can be told to do bad things but that is the trainers fault, not the Pokemon. Simple enough?
6. I heard that trainers force their Pokemon to battle. Is this true?
NO! Pokemon, like humans, have free will. If they do not want to battle, or hurt something or someone they will simply not listen to their trainer. This is also true when a trainer is not experienced enough to handle a certain Pokemon; the Pokemon will not listen to him or her.
7. Does Pokemon teach anything? Or is it just another dumb game?
Pokemon has many positive aspects for fans both young and old. The main thing Pokemon teaches is friendship and working together. You have to have a pretty close bond with your Pokemon to understand them. When you do, they can become the nicest of friends to you. Of course, it is important to limit the time a child devotes to Pokemon if you feel that is necessary. In which case, it is advisable to perhaps discuss with your child how much time they should spend on Pokemon.
